I have participated in daily discussions during the past two weeks, both virtually and via telephone, as well as with members of my own household, around the topics of race, equity, diversity, inclusion, law enforcement, legislation, and general perspective/opinion exchanges. I’ve been intentionally seeking knowledge by attending virtual-live events, featuring panels representing different, and opposing, levels of involvement. It’s been educational, insightful, and at times emotionally draining, but we’ve only just begun.
These DISCUSSIONS MATTER, and every day, they matter more. How can each of us begin to crack the foundation that has formed beneath us, set in historical cement?
We can start by TALKING about it, LISTENING to each other, LEARNING, and ENGAGING in DISCUSSIONS with the INTENT to challenge the status quo and crack the foundation of racism and division that hurts, steals, kills and destroys EVERYONE and EVERYTHING in its path.
Start the discussion. Ask the hard questions. Admit the difficult truths about our own biases. Bridge the gaps.
