Being a Humble Leader Matters

LEADERSHIP IS ABOUT THE PEOPLE YOU SERVE
Leadership can be overwhelming and associated responsibilities daunting. Running from one task to the next, one meeting to the other, one phone call after another, the fact that your role as leader is first, and foremost, about serving people, can inadvertently get lost.
Making people your priority must be purposeful. You may be thinking, ‘I do that everyday’, but it’s more than the necessary interactions and achieving results through people, that demonstrate leadership. Are you expressing genuine care and concern for the well being of people in your sphere of influence? Are you taking time to ensure they have the support they need to be successful in delivering results?
“Ask how you can help employees do their own jobs better – then listen” (Cable, 2018). Listening – active listening – is key to being a humble leader. Take time to ask today. Take even more time to listen.
